Internet connection, I do not have an internet connection.
Can I still use the Solar-Log™? Yes, you can still use the Solar-Log™ even without an internet connection. Only the special internet-based functions such as email, SMS or the homepage with online data are then of course not possible.
I do not have an internet connection, but would still like to be automatically notified by email and SMS!
No problem! You need either an analogue telephone line, an original Solar-Log™ analogue modem and the Solar-Log™ 1000 (not possible with Solar-Log™ 200/500) or, alternatively, you can use the Solar-Log™ Mobile Radio Package with the Solar-Log™ 1000 (not possible with Solar-Log™ 200/500). The mobile radio option is probably cheaper on the long-term than by telephone because the monthly charges of the telephone line alone must also be considered.
I would like to use the Solar-Log™ Modem Package, but I do not have an ISDN connection.
All ISDN telephone plants also have an analogue telephone connection which you probably already use for your normal telephone. Simply insert the SolarLog modem into this connection.
I have a DSL connection, can I also use it for the Solar-Log™?
Yes of course, however the Solar-Log™ requires an internet router for internet access. This is a device that dials into the internet automatically when required. You can of course also connect your PC to this internet router.
I have an internet connection via cable BW, can I use it?
Not directly, unfortunately, when using a cable connection a (DSL) router must always be added which dials into the cable modem and takes on the task of allocating addresses. The PC and Solar-Log™ can then be connected to the router. They need a DSL router without integrated DSL modem. Then use WAN settings to set the DSL router to "Use dynamic address".
Router configuration: For routers which are normally used in the home no ports need to be opened. The Solar-Log™ only recognises the direction of transmission from your network to the internet.
For larger companies that work with an advanced type of router changes in the router configuration must be made. Consult your network administrator.
You will find the ports to be used in the Solar-Log™ manual under "Technical Data".
