IT Security in an Emergency: The Global PHP Security Vulnerability in October 2026

from Benjamin Ratzke | 23.10.2026

The security of digital infrastructures is sometimes threatened by completely unpredictable risks. When a critical, worldwide security vulnerability in the PHP scripting language became known on October 21, 2026, rapid and structured action was required.

Consistent Protection and Complete Integrity

To rule out any risk to customer data, online services were proactively taken offline on October 21 at 19:30 CET. This temporary measure enabled our developers to analyze our products in isolation and secure them effectively.

  • Uninterrupted plant operation: The Solar-Log™ data loggers continuously controlled the local photovoltaic systems and recorded all yield data locally.
  • No data loss: Following system hardening, all yield data was resynchronized in the Solar-Log WEB Enerest™ 3 and 4 portals as well as in the app.
  • Rapid restoration: All online services and interfaces were successfully cleared and restored after a security audit on October 22 at 15:30 CET.

Reliable Processes in Critical Situations

Global software vulnerabilities require clear decision-making pathways. The coordinated interplay of preventive protective measures, technical remediation, and an orderly restart has demonstrated that Solar-Log™ security processes are effective and system integrity is maintained even in the face of external threats.

More about Solar-Log™

At the beginning of the 2000s, we started our activities in the field of solar energy as pioneers. Looking to the future, we recognized even then the increasing importance of alternative energy sources.

In view of the finiteness of fossil energy sources and the emerging increase in energy demand, we set the course for ourselves. In order to secure an independent power supply with photovoltaics, we continuously pushed the development of innovative and customer-specific energy system solutions.

Today, as an independent partner, we enable companies worldwide to efficiently and profitably manage the energy of their photovoltaic systems with reliable monitoring, and high-quality "Made in Germany" products. By these means, we are able to support them in making an active contribution to the energy turnaround and to protecting the environment.
