Grid requirements, feed-in limits, maintenance: anyone operating or managing PV systems already has plenty to deal with. From January 1, 2027, another challenge will arise that directly affects revenue: for all PV systems with a capacity of 150 kWp or more, feed-in remuneration will be based on hourly day-ahead electricity prices.
During periods of high solar generation, prices can drop to zero or even become negative. Anyone feeding electricity into the grid without appropriate control during these periods may end up paying to do so.
